How to choose a Projection Screen
Whether you are setting up a home theatre system, using your screen with a computer for business meetings or even in a stadium environment, there are certain things to take into account when purchasing a projection screen which can affect the efficiency of the product as well as the reliability of the product. But do not be afraid, choosing the right screen is very EASY!
Instructions
1.
First determine if you need a front projection or a rear projection screen based on your projector and space requirements.

The screen surface affects the brightness and sharpness of the projected images. Lighting and intent of use are the most important factors.
Gain – Viewing Angle
The screens gain has to do with how much light is emitted from the screen when projected upon. A high gain will allow you to keep the lights on without sacrificing the ability to see the images on the screen. Gain is in reversely related to the of the viewing angle, so a high gain reduces your ability to see the screen from the sides of a room.
Matte White (MW)Matte White (MW) finishes, (available on all Screen Models series Apollo-T, Apollo, Economy-P, Economy, Goldview and Champion) the most common, provide good definition for text and color slides (best for use with computer applications).
PS Matte White (PS MW) finishes (series Super Mobile, Fantasy-M, Cyber-M and PermFix ) is used for Tension system screens. This new elastic surface is with microscopic spherical diamond inclusions which increase reflection and provide the perfect brightness of colors.
High Contrast Grey (HCG) finishes (available for series Goldview and Champion) are ideal for movies or other video applications and are intended for rooms with side lighting such as living rooms. This surface in grey color makes the picture more contrast.
PS High Contrast Grey (PS HCG) is available for Tension system screens. ( available for series Fantasy-M, Cyber-M, PermFix and Excluzive )
Glass beaded (GB) finishes are made using new technology: titanium and barium are used instead of lead. This surface provides very contrast picture with deep black color. ( Goldview series )
PS Cineflex surfaces are using for rear projection screens (series PermFix and Easy-com). This surface has neutral grey color and provides high resolution and contrast of images. Available for Tension system screens.

. The flatness of the screen can be more or less important based on your application, so when purchasing a screen a tensioning system (series Fantasy-M, Cyber-M, PermFix and Excluzive) may prove to be useful.

Black borders (all series except Apollo-T and Economy-P) can be very helpful. They will provide a boundary around the edges of the projected image providing a cleaner, more professional look.

Motorized screens (series Champion, Elegant, Fantasy-M, Cyber-M Excluzive and SkyShow), will give you the comfort of rolling the screen out at the push of a button. This command can be performed by wireless remote control (SMRF-01 RF Remote Control and SMIR-01 IR Remote Control) or by wired remote control which is included in the standard package.
How to Pick the Right Size Projector Screen
Determining the best screen size for your video projector requires some research. The wrong projector screen size can distort your images and an over-sized screen will cause you to move your head and eyes constantly, as if watching a tennis match. As a rule of thumb, choosing the right projection screen size should depend on your audience rather than the projector, and it is mostly a matter of personal preference. But don’t be afraid! It is VERY EASY!!!

Imagine how big you want the screen to be. Using black electrical tape, mark the imaginary corners of your future screen. Professionals recommend a screen size of 100 inches (2.54 meters) diagonally for basic home theaters. Place your seat in front of the large rectangle at your preferred distance, adjusting until you find the comfortable size and distance from your seating.

Determine the native resolution or native aspect ratio of your projector. Most projectors have 16:9 (standard wide screen, HDTV) and 4:3 (classic) ratios.

Look at the ceiling height of your room. Ideally, a screen should be at least 30 cm from the ceiling and 90cm to 120cm above the floor.

Consider the distance the audience will be sitting from the screen. The most comfortable viewing distance should be 1.5 times the width of the screen.
Tips & Warnings
Important considerations in choosing the right screen include the screen's tension and retraction mechanism.
A small screen might make text hard to read.
A screen that is too large is hard on the eyes and may cause "tennis neck."
If you will use the screen primarily to watch sports or play video games, go for a gray screen. These create better images in rooms with sufficient light.
If you watch movies often, the room in which you install the screen should have less or adjustable lighting. Additionally, white screens are better for movie watching because they better show vibrant colors.
High-gain screens don't necessarily produce the best appearance and can cause "hot spotting" in which the screen appears brighter than the edges.
Consult with experts in screen technology who can indicate which types of screen works best for a particular projector model.
